Songwriting team Joshua David and Heather Haas have threatened to do a project together since the begining of time. They finally followed through after Joshua's long time band UNDUN broke up, in 2006.

Heather had previously worked with drummer Kelly Prestridge in Fire Sign, Third World Dogs and The Dawson Gang. He signed on to Ground Above Zero without hesitation.

After a few temporary guitarists, they almost called it quits. They decided to give one more audition a try, and found the perfect fit at the last minute in Andrew Nugent.
